Strategies of communicating health-related risks to vulnerable groups of immigrants during a pandemic: a scoping review of qualitative and quantitative evidence

Purpose The purpose of this rapid scoping review was to map existing literature on risk communication strategies implemented by authorities and aimed at vulnerable immigrants in the context pandemics. Design/methodology/approach Existing topic charted terms its nature volume summarizing evidence regarding strategies. Literature searches were conducted Academic Search Premier CINAHL, databases searched from 2011 present March 31, 2021. Findings Five articles met criteria included review, pointing limited research area. findings indicated that a close interaction between is important. Community education, building trust sources, clear inclusive decision-making among all found be important when communicating health risks immigrants. Research limitations/implications primary limitation only two databases, namely, CINAHL. A wider search across several other could have given more profound results. Furthermore, some studies where conceptualized as, for instance, “disadvantaged groups” might overseen due choice strategy used study. There are also certain limitations related review. Practical implications Identifying efficient ways conveying recommendations may further assist scientists developing effective health-related communication.
